Showing Up Differently
Using the Tiny Habits method of adding in new practices to ones you're already doing consistently will allow you to make bigger shifts, faster.
To do this, you'll simply add the “Showing Up Differently” practice to one activity you already do to create a consistent routine with added value.
The tiny habits method has a formula that goes... After I [do the thing I consistently do] I will [new practice].
This could like: As I drink my morning tea I will consciously choose how to show up until lunchtime.
Showing Up Differently
Set an intention for the day/activity/moment by consciously choosing how you want to show up in that time.
For example, When my partner gets home from work until bedtime I will put away my phone and embody warm presence and attentiveness.
Embodiment is a practice, just as identity is.
You can choose to show up empowered, playful, relaxed, coy, courageous, optimistic, etc.
When you choose how to show up make a mental game of running through scenarios that may or may not happen and visualize how you'd respond if you were practicing that particular quality.
Practicing this will help you make a more conscious decisions in challenging moments, where otherwise it may be tricky to remember and maintain the ways you wish you’d show up.
