Take My Power Back Practice

This practice is designed to help you reintegrate a felt sense of power, of taking back your power from those who have sought to disempower you, and anchor in feelings of confidence, self-worth, congruence (and whatever other empowered states you want to claim as you take back your power).

You can also use this exercise as a tool to manage triggers that come up (a disempowering emotion arises within you, or you have an experience that leaves you feeling less-than).

Dancing is a somatic practice that connects us not only to our body (especially when you let go of your thoughts and just move how your body is telling you to move) but to energy produced by the music (both literally by soundwaves and also by the emotional experience of the music).

The goal here is to embody what "taking my power back" means to you through dance. What does it feel like to move your body to express your personal power? How can you use the movement to call back in energy that you once gave away, having it return to you and strengthen you?

I've got three songs here as a suggestion (the first three songs on this album, Emei, Reine, and Marta by il:lo).

Finally, take a savasana. You can do this beautifully with the fourth track (Imprenta pt. 1).

During savasana, practice the NLP technique of "anchor stacking." By including the dance before this practice, we're priming your body to be more "online" – more parts of your nervous system are aroused and active, which will strengthen the following exercise.

Below is a guided practice for anchor stacking. When you do it once or twice with the guide, you can choose to do it on your own or continue using the guide.
